In the first quarter of this year, the employment growth rate of large conglomerates was only 0.2%, and Samsung Electronics attracted attention by employing more than 3,000 people.

According to the Korea CXO Research Institute, which specializes in corporate analysis, on the 22nd, the number of national pension subscribers employed by 40 large conglomerates as of December last year was 697,842. Since then, it has fallen to 696,920 in January of this year. In February, it registered 700,000 people with 70,808. Then, in March, it fell back to 600,000 to 699,230 people.

Compared to December of last year, in March of this year, 1388 people have increased. In terms of employment growth, it was only around 0.2%.

Of the 40 large companies, 19 have had an increase in employment in March this year compared to December last year, and 21 have decreased.

During the same period, there were 10 countries where employment increased by more than 100. Among them, Samsung Electronics has more than 3,000 employees.

In the case of Samsung Electronics, the number of employees employed on the basis of national pension subscribers in December last year was 128,877. Since then, it has fallen to 127,732 in January this year, but rose again to 122,130 in February and went to 123,912 in March.

In March of this year compared to December of last year, the number of employees increased by 3035 people. This is an increase of about 700 from the increase of 2,337 in March 2023 (122,226) compared to December 2022 (117,889). Moreover, even compared to an increase of 2,200 in March 2022 (111,289) compared to December 2021 (113,489), employment progress this year is good.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is also found to have increased its headcount by nearly 1,000 since March this year compared to December last year.

As of December last year, the company had 12,261 employees, and since then, it has continuously increased its employment to January (13,139) February (13,218) March (13,226). It is interpreted that management performance has been strong recently, and shipbuilding orders have been brisk, and employment is also actively developing.

Also, there were eight places where employment increased by more than 100 people since March of this year compared to December of last year.

On the other hand, 11 companies have reported that the number of employees has decreased by more than 100 in the first quarter of this year.

Among them, LG Innotek was found to have decreased by more than 2000. Previously, the company had 15,159 national pension subscribers in December last year, with 13,738 employees in January this year 12,845 in February 12,493 in March, continuously decreasing the number of employees in three months.

The number of employees decreased by 2666 (17.6%) in March this year compared to December last year.

However, in the case of LG Innotek, the number of national pension subscribers changed significantly due to the increase or decrease of short-term contract workers due to changes in customer volume.

In fact, the number of LG Innotek employees decreased by 2,413 in March 2023 compared to December 2022, but the number of national pension subscribers increased to 16,400 in October last year.
